Re: “How Energy Companies Are 'Robbing the 'Hood'

No, none of this is the real problem. Nothing to do with rich or poor, or any of that.

What's going on is the utility companies, all private companies with a profit motive, have essentially been forced by the government to ask us to conserve electricity, which is counter to their normal profit motive.

The state forced the goofy "inverse tier" pricing structure on them where if you use more electricity you have to pay much more.

What they should be doing is what every other company does is ask us to buy more and give us a better deal and lower prices if we do. It's how business is. Buy more, we'll sell for less if you do.

If those utility companies would be forced to act like real companies and like they want to see us their product we would see this all getting better.

These are regulated monopolies for a reason, protected from any pesky competition all those years and you cannot unring the bell. That their business should have been changed by the government from one where they were eager to sell us their products to one where they are forced to *say* they'd rather not is bizarre. That should be changed. I should get a better deal if I buy more.
