Thank you Susan Nunes for addressing how corrupt some (not all) principals and central office people are. We call them "The Machine." The Machine is dedicated to a small group holding all the power and oppressing people who aren't one of them. PAR is just a ploy to hold on to their power. It is not about due process, helping children or anything else altruistic. When I heard about PAR 15 years it sounded wonderful. But now that I have witnessed PAR in action, I know it for the promotor of corruption that it is. I also agree that PAR is a crutch for principals who aren't good at running their schools. The particular principals who use it are garden variety bullies. If a principal models bullying, eventually that will become the pervasive school culture. I understand why the public is fooled by PAR, but PAR really is not the answer to help our schools. Good for Mr. Crowell for having the courage to speak out.
