CA on a good day has only about 16 rigs working while TX has over a 1,000. The Monterey and other shale formations are 1,000 to 9,000 feet thick with over 12 different lithologies in the same formation. The Bakken averages 80 feet and the same for TX's Eagle Ford. The true estimates for CA are closer to 40 to 60 billion barrels with single digit per cent recovery with known tools. The author repeats economic hyper lies about known contamination and toxic chemicals. Never had happened in CA for 60 years. ..all red herrings. The article is logically backwards. ..the State should encourage the industry to keep trying new and better tools, not punish hard working folks. Last year CA drivers made over 340 billion miles of travel and 98% of the fuel was from oil products.
