Danielle Eubank’s five oil paintings depict water-surface ripples and whorls, so abstracted and simplified as to suggest a marriage between nature photography and Op Art. If the beauty of ever-changing shapes and colors, magically frozen into art, suggests infinity, Eubank includes human detritus and endangered wildlife in her depictions of remote, not-unspoiled locations (Antarctica, Mozambique). Audra Weaser is inspired by the very timelessness — “the constant state of flux” — that Eubank sees as threatened. Her acrylic paintings, somewhat resembling solarized photos, depict reflections and ripples emerging from a white ground, and belong to the Romantic spiritualized landscape tradition. Sculptor David Ruth merges environmentalism and conceptual art in his rugged glass slabs or steles (as yet uninscribed), fashioned from casts of stone and glacier ice. Imposing, monumental forms take on the transparence and fluidity of ice and water.
