Re: “The Uncivil Jewish Debate

Note the use of language in Sinkinson's comment -- the man runs a PR company and knows what he's doing. He calls Scherr a "leftist" like it's a pejorative, then attempts to dismiss the entire story by claiming the whole thing rests on a faulty premise. Then he links Scherr with Lerner as "ultra-left buddies" trying to pull the wool over our eyes with a piece of propaganda. Then he invokes his vast "experience in the East Bay Jewish community" to state that very few Jews have any criticism for Israel -- as though any Jew would cop to it in Sinkinson's presence given the way he treats those who do. And then it really gets rough -- he claims that Jews who have reservations about Israel are "marginal" and have "zero standing" in the Jewish community, and even says they are "reviled outcasts." Seems to me that Mr. Sinkinson has perfectly illustrated the premise he set out to undercut -- that debate about Israel-Palestine has become a volatile affair. Oh but he's not through yet. Next target -- the East Bay Express itself for failing to meet Mr. Sinkinson's journalistic standards. And so he has efficiently attempted to discredit each and every party involved in the airing of honest, legitimate political views that happen to not match his own. And let's not forget that Sinkinson was one of the guys who targeted the Berkeley Daily Planet -- Scherr's former employer -- for the same reason, harrassing its advertisers and readers, and that he did so in tandem with Dan Spitzer, one of the gate-crashers at the Jewish Voice for Peace meeting in the incident mentioned in Scherr's story. When people are this determined to silence political opponents its usually because they're trying to defend a policy that is indefensible, and Israel's treatment of Palestinians is just that.

Re: “John Russo's E-Z Guide to Job Hunting

Caricature is more about a man's soul than his face, so the arched brows and id-like ego of Jack Nicholson is more than appropriate.
Max, the push poll item was printed in Seven Days.…
