Oliver Stone explains Latin American politics. It’s better than it sounds, as director Stone and his documentary crew visit such Wall Street and Yankee neo-con bugaboos as Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, to find out what drives him: social justice, apparently. According to Stone and writers Tariq Ali and Mark Weisbrot, the freely elected “neo-liberal Bolivarian” social-democrat governments in Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Ecuador are the leading edge of a new wave in the Western hemisphere. We shall see. And what trip south would be complete without a stop-off in Cuba to see Raúl Castro? You’re not likely to see a report like this on CNN or, perish the thought, Fox News (78 min.).
