Re: “A's Fremont Deal on the Line

its a terrible plan.

The most convenient parking is in the lots of the many surrounding retail establishments. So- typical gameday - customers of Lowes or Costco or the Auto dealerships can't get to those businesses without expending hour-long waits doing so. . . . . .and once they get there (during the game) there's no parking because it's all gobbled up by stadium attendees . . .. followed by another couple of hours of congested arterials while attendees try to get out of the ballpark. Any of these retail operators have to be considering completely moving out of town go avoid getting hammered. . . . . The restraunteers love it.

Here's another interesting one - 100% of the 880/automall traffic exits onto Automall West-bound and has to cross the first intersection at Christy. But, pedestrian traffic for more distant parking to the North of Automall is moving in large, large numbers to cross Automall from the North to the ballpark located on the south side of Automall. So, in a nutshell you have a majority of 880 traffic converging on an intersection with gobs of pedestrians trying to traverse the same intersection. Imagine what this looks like - now imagine the impact to highway 880 on weekday game-days.

BART ? - oh yeah - Bart riders will need loads of busses traversing from the current southern end of the BART line (presently at Walnut Avenue - maybe someday in Warm Springs - but in ANY case - well EAST of the ballpark) - but, those busses will need to traverse 880 someplace too...... the "secret" back door, up Stevenson to Boyce and then up Automall will become a grid-locked mess quickly as in-the-know fans bail out of 880 as soon as they can to avoid the obvious nightmare described above. . . .

Net, net - this thing is a grid-locked mess and a majority of the currently in-place retailers get sold-out by the Fremont City Council and Mayor in favor of the A's.
