It is good to see this kind of article; to encourage bees, especially solitary bees such as the orchard mason bees offers so many benefits to those who have fruit trees in need of pollination. These bees are also ten times more effective as pollinators than the well known honey bee species - as they are in a real hurry with only 6 weeks of adult flying activity. They are also not aggressive except in competition with easch other.
It is also worth offering the species artificial nesting habitats. Wooden pre-drilled nesting blocks, reed or plastic tube containing boxes are easily made by the DIY enthusiast. There are many references, especially videos and solitary bee blogs that are helpful in this objective.
