Solano Ave. Business Owners Worried Goodwill Won't Be so Good for Business

Oh, Solano Avenue. First, the North Berkeley street managed to make ice cream controversial; now, it looks like the latest offender is none other than Goodwill Industries — a nonprofit organization, N.B., and a progressive one at that. The clothing and furniture store is planning to open a new location in the space recently vacated by Front Row video, but nearby merchants are apparently worried that this'll make it even harder to attract customers to the business district — which appears to be struggling to do just that anyway, as it's seen a spate of closures in recent weeks.
