This proposal would only make 6% more California Grade Gasoline. The problem part of
this boost of refinery capacity is that Chevron isn't disclosing the dirtier, heavier and
toxic laden contents of a different crude it wants to use. Tar sands from Canada are cheaper
and more profitable for them. The true cost will be put on Bay Area residents. We'll bare the
brunt of higher likelyhood of accidents because of higher temperatures and pressures
needed to process the dirtier crude. The Flaring of toxic gases combined with more VOC's
and GHG's make this a Global problem as well.
