Slap City Pre-Valentine's Day Jump Off Launch Party

When: Mon., Feb. 13, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $2

Lest you question the idea of Oakland hip-hop duo RnB Millionaires headlining a Valentine's dance, just remember that the "RnB" part of the name doesn't stand for nothing. Rappers Jay Casio and Justin Loans may cite Drake and Wu-Tang Clan as influences, but they're also into pink, candy-coated, escapist music, and it's not unusual to hear TLC blasting from the stereo speakers of their home studio. They'll headline a new hip-hop dance night in Oakland, featuring DJs from the relatively young warehouse crew Trill Team 6, which is known for spinning tracks that fall right on the margins of what's popular. In their inaugural edition of Slap City, DJs Bobby Peru, Handsome Neto, and Pony Loco promise a fine mƒ©lange of cloud, swag, based, dosed, dragged, drugged, and otherwise-narcotizing rap music -- and hopefully a few tunes to make babies to, given the theme. They'll convene at SOM Bar (2925 16th St., San Francisco) on Monday, Feb. 13. 9 p.m., $2.
