Re: “Shiny Buildings, Shady Dealings

The Ivy League connection isn't a scholarship program - it is a two week summer program.

I don't think anyone is against it. Let's just keep it in perspective. It impacts a tiny percentage of district students - students who were college-bound regardless of the program.

Re: “Shiny Buildings, Shady Dealings

Greg - there is a flaw in your logic, too. If it weren't for the heavy burden imposed by $1.4 billion in bond debt, maybe the additional 7% of the voters would have been willing to pay for the parcel tax.

As a matter of fact, a consultant advised the board to ask for a smaller bond, because their research showed that doing so could keep a future parcel tax measure alive. The board (goaded by Ramsey) ignored the advice. (There's no "pay off" to Ramsey and Kronenberg from a parcel tax.)

Re: “Shiny Buildings, Shady Dealings

The article didn't mention that enrollment in the district is declining, and that the declining enrollment is due to district residents opting for private or out-of-district public schools. Ramsey has been on the board for 18 years, yet he seems unaware or unconcerned about this.
