Skank Bloc Bologna Number Four

When: Fri., Feb. 19, 6 p.m. 2010
Price: $5

Semina was the journal created, copied, and distributed by Beat-era performer and champion of artists Wallace Berman. A precursor to the modern 'zine, it placed the work of established writers, artists, and poets alongside that of young up-and-comers. TheNew York Times recently characterized it as "distinctively trippy, sardonic West Coast surrealism." The legacy of Semina is the inspiration for Skank Bloc Bologna Number Four, which takes place Friday, Feb. 19, at BerkeleyArt Museum (2626 Bancroft Way, Berkeley). The event will include a reenactment of Jack Goldstein's Two Fencers by members of the Cal Fencing Club, a screening of Ostia, a ScrittiPolitti cover band, and DJ Citizen Zain spinning ska, opera, and more. Kick-off at 6 p.m., event starts at 7:30 p.m.; $5, free for UCB students, faculty, and staff. BAMPFA.berkeley.edu
