Nearly 200 writers will take over 40 bars, storefronts, galleries, and cafes in Downtown Oakland this Saturday for the sixth annual Beast Crawl. The crawl will consist of three hour-long stretches, with each leg featuring about 12 events hosted by different curators and readers. There will be something for everyone, from StorySlam (a true personal storytelling competition), to youth poetry, queer authors, erotica, and more. It's a lot to cover, so be sure to check out the festival map for a complete list of events. And don't forget the after-party at The Legionnaire Saloon, where you'll be able to mingle with fellow crawlers.

Saturday, Sept. 2, 5-9 p.m., free, various venues, BeastCrawl.Weebly.com
