Sisters Droppin Beats Club Critics' Pick Staff Pick

When: Sun., Aug. 24, 3-7 p.m. 2008
Price: $10-$35

If you can't make it to DJ Quik's gig at the DNA Lounge this Thursday, but still want your hip-hop fix for the week, check out Sunday, Aug. 24's all-female DJ showcase at Oakland's Club Oasis (135 12th St.). Called "Sisters Dropping Beats," the event stars the Coup's Pam the Funkstress -- an East Bay icon and pioneer of "the breast cut," which is exactly what you're thinking -- rising Latina DJ Rumorosa (who says that cumbia music, rancheras, and nortenas are her first loves), Cuban DJ Ledys, and DJ LP. Proceeds benefit the Women of Color Resource Center. 3-7 p.m., $10-$35.
