Siouxsie - the Mantaray & More Tour

When: Tue., Feb. 12, 8 p.m. and Wed., Feb. 13, 8 p.m. 2008
Price: $45

As someone who witnessed the birth of the UK punk scene and became a subsequent cornerstone of the goth movement, Siouxsie Sioux has accomplished much during her fifty years of being Robert Smith's female counterpart. With the Banshees a mere memory and the Creatures (her group with soon-to-ex-husband Budgie) gone the way of her broken marriage, Siouxsie released her debut solo album Mantaray last year. Far from an exercise in nostalgia, Mantaray sees Sioux snarling her way through songs featuring slashing guitars and a glam-rock ambiance ("About to Happen"), atmospheric, synth-soaked New Wave ("They Follow You"), and gothy ballads that would qualify as saloon songs if the bar was being run by Sweeney Todd ("If It Doesn't Kill You"). Gothic chamber-pop trio Rasputina opens the show. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Fillmore. 8 p.m., $45. TheFillmore.com
