SILENT SCREEN SUNDAY: The 1906 Earthquake Nickelodeon

When: Sun., April 19, 7:30-9:45 p.m. 2015
Phone: 510-472-3170
Price: Suggested donation $10, Children 12 and under are free.
The Excelsior Electric Theater presents a nickelodeon show for 1906, with movies and music of the time. There are illustrated song slide sing-alongs, plus stereoscopic slides of pre-and post-quake San Francisco. The famous April 14th Trip Down Market St. is featured, and the lesser-known Train Ride Down Mt. Tamalpais too. Too much reality? There's delightful fantasy from Georges Méliès onscreen. Nothing digital here; these are movies on film, shown with mechanical projectors. Live piano accompaniment provided by the effervescent Ellen Hoffman; the whole is emceed by 'Daisy Victor' (Annie Lore). Suitable for all ages. Wheelchair accessible!
