Writer-actors Alice Lowe and Steve Oram, with help from director Ben Wheatley, take the Murderous Oafs on Holiday premise all the way up the mountainside in this insidious black comedy about dating couple Tina (Lowe) and Chris (Oram) and their dreadful caravan trip — which moves from minor aggravations to major mayhem amid some of the oddest tourist attractions in the British Isles. Along the way, we meet Tina’s nagging mum (Eileen Lowe), a dognapped pooch named Banjo, the hapless inventor of the cara-pod, and the world’s largest pencil. Lowe and Oram and their misanthropic dialogue (written with Amy Jump) lift Tina and Chris’ funny-but-bleak odyssey from would-be Mumblecore to full-on Stumblecore.(89 min.)
