Just in case audiences think the Women’s Movement is over and done with, filmmaker Mary Dore’s informative, soul-stirring documentary shows us what happened, how, and why, from the late 1960s onward, from a variety of women’s rights point of view. The period newsreel segments are sensational, as are the contemporary talking heads featuring such feminist activists and thinkers as Ruth Rosen, Fran Beal, Susan Griffin, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, Jo Freeman, and League of Women Voters founder Virginia Whitehill, who tells us: “You’re not allowed to retire from women’s issues. You still have to pay attention.” Strongly recommended for anyone, female or male, who wants to understand one of the key issues of the last century, and the present one (92 min.).
