Re: “KPFA Radio Meltdown

This is not the first time that KPFA management has gutted quality programming for corporate greed.

What is happening at KPFA is a microcosmic view of what is happening in the world.

Did Lemlem or her aides take "20% pay / hours cuts "across the board, plus additional trimming" to assist in making..."the costs of each program commensurate with its income?" Did Lemlem or her aides decide to "rejigger their schedules to help to provide more funding for "increased listenership?"

I don't think so.

How smart a "business move," is it to make sure that upper management are the only paid workers?

I mean, apparently they haven't heard that enslavement of people is truly illegal karma in the eyes of the universe...and that when there are hundreds of workers, but less than 1% of them are making a living wage (and those are fascist) and the rest are either 'volunteers,' or underpaid, slavery on a plantation is the reality of what you have.

How smart a "business move," is it to devalue the lives and work of staff to the point that divide and conquer inside the place of business is the only truly operative function?

How smart a "business move," is it to decide that an alleged to be 'listener-sponsored, cutting edge radio station" should confine and restrict its listenership, directives, and objectives more and more to be in tune with corporate needs?

Listener supported? In serious need of funding?

It wasn't too expensive to "bump up security" to employing the BPD to come in and beat Nadra Foster. And it isn't considered to be too expensive to gut FLASHPOINTS but keep the 6 o'clock evening trash that passes for news.

Which listeners and whose funding supports actions such as these? Dare I guess? Or do we all know...

Interesting how KPFA, the Pacifica Foundation, & its 'listener supported' advocacy sits mired more deeply each minute into racism and far right political practices.

Interesting how a show called LETTERS TO WASHINGTON can be created at a point in time when Washington distinguishes itself by hiring a negro president who garners the Nobel Peace prize for escalating war and surgically attaching his lips to Israel's ass.

One must give pause long enough to find seriously consider the question of whose lap does LemLem truly want to sit in as she works hard to convert KPFA into 'Hard Right Radio,' an arm of state imperialism.

As an AFRIKAN Woman and former worker in KPFA's ever burgeoning in size unpaid news staff during the AFRIKAN Liberation struggles of the 70's & 80's, what I see happening at KPFA is not new.

The difference between then and now is that upper management no longer bothers to hide their imperial taint behind a wanna be white and hip imperial limp.

In fact, it appears that these kinds of moves have been deeply imbedded in the Pacifica Foundation 'mission' from the beginning as a sort of 'deep throat' plan B - just as the U.S. constitution was not ever constructed with even the faintest attempt at establishing a democratic agenda in mind.

These guys (KPFA management) are still the same idiots (albeit with different faces) that would receive bomb threats to the building in the 70s, demand a complete evacuation of everyone working inside (except anyone who was on the air) then stand outside on the sidewalk about 2 feet away from said building to witness the impending boom...

The structure hasn't ever blown, to the best of my knowledge, but did these idiots know that it wouldn't?

Thus does the Pacifica Foundation continue to show us, in true Animal Farm fashion, that it cares not a whit for historical relevance, nor does it recognize the major prat fall of manure in which it continues to define itself.

Oh well.

Empires always fall.

Repression always breeds resistance.

People always fight back.

And united people always win.
