A feature-length video promo piece positioned as a documentary, pure infomercial/advertorial. Once we get past that, writer-director Matthew Miele’s peek inside the New York City rich-fashionista retail mecca Bergdorf Goodman is reasonably entertaining, for various reasons for various audiences. While we’re marveling at the effete side of mercantile capitalism and the personalities attracted to it, we can see the egalitarian side of the phenomenon – even if you’re broke, you can stand on the sidewalk and look at the supremely fanciful window displays for free. But then you eventually have to move on. The title comes from either a New Yorker cartoon by Victoria Roberts or a remark by a French customer in the store, take your pick. (93 min.)
