Sarah O'Neal Rush

When: Sat., Feb. 16, 2-4 p.m. 2008
Price: free

To most of us, Booker T. Washington is a famous freed slave who became an iconic advocate for education among African Americans. To his great-granddaughter Sarah O'Neal Rush, he's a source of ongoing pride and inspiration. On Feb. 16 at the African American Museum and Library (659 14th St., Oakland), Rush discusses and reads from her book Timeless Treasures: Reflections of God's Word in the Wisdom of Booker T. Washington, which pairs the great man's quotations with biblical passages. 2 p.m. OaklandLibrary.org/aamlo
