Re: “Why Oakland's Free Holiday Parking Is Hurting Businesses

Matt, you are so correct. I also work downtown and periodically walk at lunch. The amount of handicapped placards is ridiculous! Parking for free all the time. Like all those people hogging all the street parking are disabled!!! Yet they can work a 40 hour week. What a scam. Who is losing is the city of Oakland.

Re: “Richmond Developer Pushes Two Ballot Measures

I am not a supporter of Mr. Poe and I totally support Bill LIndsay and his salary. However, regarding the General Plan 2030 for density, the City has crammed their density approach down our throats whether we like it or not. They have attempted to rezone our homes near the corridors so we are back to back with businesses; lecture us about getting out of our cars and therefore we do not need parking; force on us rezoning so our neighborhoods can have "McMansions". etc etc etc. The city has some dream/vision that Richmond can be the new Oakland (like we wanna be Oakland???) with young hipsters taking the ferry to their tech jobs in SF. Dream on. Tech jobs are in Silicon Valley anyway. Therefore, they want Marina Bay to be much smaller urban like dwellings where people can live shoulder to shoulder. I honestly do not understand why Poe can't build the kind of units he wants. And if it's too expensive for the young hipsters, then young hipsters won't live there. It's simply too much government.

Re: “Richmond Developer Pushes Two Ballot Measures

Mr. Geluardi, many of us voted against funding Doctors Hospital, our views having nothing to do with Mr. Poe's ridiculous mailers. We really aren't a dumb group; we are quite informed and can make our voting decisions on our own, thank you. Doctors Hospital has been in a state of deficit for years and frankly we were tired of our property taxes being dinged continually for a dying institution. Please don't be so naive as to blame the failure of the tax measure on this gentleman.
