San Francisco Opera

When: Sun., July 4, 2 p.m. 2010
Price: free

It's real slow in the EastBay this week, but San Francisco Opera is hopping. In addition to performances of Faustand The Girl of the Golden West - if I had to choose only one, I'd take the latter - the opera and chorus present a free concert on Independence Day. Featuring two superb Faust principals, soprano Patricia Racette and bass John Relyea,SFO's Celebration of American Music will mix American operatic and orchestral classics with some inescapable patriotic tunes. Get there early. Stern Grove (2750 19th Ave., San Francisco) on Sunday, July 4, at 2 p.m. Free.415252-6252 or
