San Francisco Opera Presents La Traviata

When: Thu., July 2, 7:30 p.m. 2009
Price: $20-$290

Given that it's summer, San Francisco Opera is just about the only classical game in town. But there's a special reason to attend this week. On Thursday, July 2, Adler Fellow David Lomelí sings his second and final "second cast" performance as Alfredo in La Traviata. Although Lomelí is still young, and his interpretations will undoubtedly mature, the voice is so glorious that I expect he will soon be in demand by opera houses worldwide. At the War Memorial Opera House (301 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco). 7:30 p.m., $20-$290, standing room $10. SFOpera.com or 415-864-3330
