Samba Samba Interactive Music Education

When: Fri., Feb. 1, 3:30 p.m. 2008
Price: kids

Synonymous with Brazil, samba has African roots. Master percussionist James Henry, who has shared stages with Rick James, Pablo Cruise, Herbie Hancock, Bobby McFerrin, and the San Francisco Symphony, uses that distinctive beat as a way to teach and inspire kids about music, heritage, and having fun. He brings his Samba Samba Interactive Music Education program to the Martin Luther King Jr. Branch of the Oakland Public Library (6833 International Blvd., Oakland) on Friday, Feb. 1 for a dance-percussion workshop to celebrate Black History Month. 3:30 p.m. OaklandLibrary.org
