Safeway No Longer Among Top Ten Retailers

Apparently, for every successful water desalinization company, there's an old-school business that's on the decline. Who knew the East Bay business world was a zero-sum game? Despite posting increased profits, Safeway has been delisted from the top ten retailers in America, says the EB Biz Times. Store Magazine, the journal for a national retail trade association, has bumped the Pleasanton-based grocery chain from the list. What's the cheer for East Bay grocery chains? "We're Number Eleven!"
