Re: “Understanding North Korea

as a youngish second generation korean american who has been yearning for a history of the korean peninsula that isn't completely glorifying of the role of the US, i am SO incredibly appreciative to Christine Ahn, Paul Liem and the other organizers and activists that fight so hard to bring these issues to light.

i don't think that providing context for the current situation on the peninsula is at all an apologist's work. if anything, our ability to understand the issues that koreans in the northern part of the peninsula care about is integral to bring about peace in the region; and it is very clear that this is not the intent for many who are so-called experts of the region (ie, white americans who have no connection to the land other than to war-monger).

look, even if you don't agree, isn't it valuable to understand why there is such strong enmity and anger towards the US? should we just ignore past injustices and ask those who have experienced it to do the same?

thanks also to the East Bay Express for providing a relevant story with new and important view points.
