Re: “Bedtime for the Night Light Means a New Day for the Elbo Room

"They installed custom brass-tacked leather chairs, lit the place with bare-filament bulbs, and stuffed the cocktail menu with whiskey."

Whiskey stingily poured from a jigger and sold at $15/drink in a plastic cup. No doubt to pay for the fancy chairs.

Pro tip- if you are going to charge a fortune for the drinks, at least give a good pour into a decent glass. Bars make their money on liquor sales, no?

Well, charging too much for a crappy pour is a good way to not make money. Because while you'll make $13 profit on the first drink, you won't be making any more, because I won't feel compelled to buy a second, or return at any point in the future to buy more.

Hell, for the price of two drinks, I'd rather just buy the bottle and have friends come over.

Re: “Obama in New Yorker: Pot Less Dangerous Than Alcohol

The President's views on gay marriage are not evolving- his opinion on the necessity of throwing gays under the bus is.

First he was for it, until it seemed politically expedient to be against it, until it seemed politically expedient to be for it again.

And for him to now being saying he thinks pot is harmless after sending Feds in against state's wishes (more than GWB, even) just shows how full of crap he is.

Considering how he said he would never sign a healthcare bill without a public option, or how he said he wanted the most transparent government ever, or how he said he'd close Gitmo- we should probably take this as a sign that there will be newer, more draconian federal drug laws.
