Comedy, Horror
A killer tire rises from the dust and goes about depopulating the desert Southwest, blowing up humans and animals with its telekinetic powers. Writer-director Quentin Dupieux (Steak) plays the absurd material with a strong whiff of Napoleon Dynamite: stupefied spectators with binoculars, dumb deputies, a sullen young woman (Roxane Mesquida), bloody meat chunks, etc. The result is surprisingly watchable for a one-joke time-waster. And you thought Chucky the killer doll was scary. With Stephen Spinella and Jack Plotnick. (85 min.)
