Actors Ensemble of Berkeley closes its 50th season with this production of Tom Stoppard'sRosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, aheady comedic classic about two bit players hopelessly out of their depth in Hamlet, demonstrating that every exit is an entrance somewhere else. Subterranean Shakespeare founder Stanley Spenger directs a cast of a dozen featuring Patrick Glenn and Gabriel A. Ross as the titular pair, Harold Pierce as the Player, and others including Ariel Herzog, Wendy Welch and Melanie Curry in bit parts like Hamlet, Ophelia and Gertrude. Starting Oct. 19, Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.Also Thursdays 8 p.m. starting Oct. 25.Continues through Nov. 17, $10-$12.
