Sarcastic Paul Rudd and vulgar Seann William Scott run afoul of the law, get sentenced to 150 hours of community service, and wind up mentoring younger variations on themselves: for Rudd, a nerdy teen who's involved in live-action medieval role-playing (the bespectacled Christopher Mintz-Plasse of Superbad), and for Scott, a gloriously rude black kid who shares his obsession with boobs (Bobb'e J. Thompson). This superior comedy features some of the same faces as Judd Apatow's movies (Ken Jeong, a hysterical Jane Lynch), but writer-director David Wain, a veteran of the cable sketch series Stella and The State, steers clear of any coming-of-age emotionality. The general tone is one of crusty, unapologetic misanthropy, driven home by the formidable Rudd (who also kicked in on the script). With Elizabeth Banks (99 min.).
