Rock Make Street Festival

When: Sat., Sept. 17, 12-7 p.m. 2011
Price: free

With so many festivals and events in the summer around the Bay Area, deciding which ones to attend can be daunting. But if you're a fan of indie music and street festivals and want to know what bands are coming up, don't miss the Rock Make Street Festival. Now in its fourth year, the event is organized by The Bay Bridged, a blog/podcast that is now a nonprofit; local band Tartufi, which also plays every year; and the San Francisco fabric store Cookie and the Dude. As such, it's a fairly well-rounded event in terms of quality of acts and vendors, but with the unfussy, laidback feeling of a block party (and it's kid-friendly). This year's event features two stages, more than one hundred arts and crafts vendors, plus food trucks and a beer and wine garden. The lineup includes Tartufi, Battlehooch, Birds & Batteries, Bare Wires, Phantom Kicks, James and Evander, Sean Smith, Cannons & Clouds, ChuCha Santa Maria y Usted, Mist Giant, and kids' rock bands. On Saturday, Sept. 17, at Treat and 18th sts., San Francisco.Noon-7 p.m., free.
