Re: “We Asked Locals How They Discover New Music

In the Aug 30 2017 edition in the Music section on page 38 you had a one page article entitled "We asked locals how they discover new music" with several answers from local luminaries. Conspicuously absent from all the answers was local college radio stations, notably UCBerk's KALX and my all time favorite Los Altos Hills Community College's KFJC. As any volunteer set up the dj's exhibit a wide range of tastes, etc. but there are quite a few who have done their homework and bring an amazing assortment of new music, be it ambient, dub, down temp or for the most part uncharacterizable but great music. They also publish their playlists. It may take some listening to find the djs you like but generally the good ones are during the morning commute or later in the evening. In contrast, the best the responders in the article could suggest are after the fact sites like Pandora and spotify, or asking friends for suggestions. Not even helpful.
