Re: “The Oakland A's Twitter War with Smashmouth Actually Happened

The A's social media team is salty to the extreme. They also argue with fans on Instagram. Superweird.

Re: “A's Fans Caught in Middle, Again

Actually Mr. Liu, the city has a Tom of leverage. The A's have been legally blocked from leaving Oakland. And local business people have proposed viable strategies to build stadiums on two different sites. The city has never been in a better position to get the A's to stay.

Before you comment on an issue you obviously don't understand, pick up a newspaper.

Re: “Ty Segall

Respectfully, I disagree. The album reminds me a lot of Donovan's work, another writer who relied heavily on cliche and repeated refrains. Viewed in the proper emotional context, i.e., the death of Segall's father and subsequent estrangement from his mother, the album is a pretty powerful emotional statement.

Even without that knowledge, the album's themes of loneliness and sense of drifting cut right through the clutter. I think it's actually fairly lyrically complex. And if sometimes the emotions are greater than words, I'm happy just to be there to experience the feeling.

It's a genuinely emotional and open record, from a guy I never expected either from. Give it another spin.
