@Joe Gont, not disagreeing with you entirely but this was a piece of data that was missing from the discussion. How do we quantify "benefit" and who gets to decide what businesses we subsidize would be my next question?

In order to bring Arizmendi to Emeryville, the city provided them $445,727 in grants, rent subsidy's and loan forgiveness. If cities want more businesses like this, it appears they're going to have to pay for them.

Yuvette Henderson's family deserves the facts of her death, but your readers deserve the facts of the circumstances of her death. To say she was killed for "allegedly shoplifting" without mentioning she was carrying a gun and allegedly pointed at the officers is reckless. I'd expect this from a protester or the Emeryville Tattler Blog, not an "investigative journalist". Step it up Darwin, you're losing credibility.
