Documentary

Logically, Andy Goldsworthy could be coined a British nature artist. But unlike his predecessors, Goldsworthy has made his chosen medium not paint, but nature itself. This documentary chronicles Goldsworthy's naturist works and aesthetic choices as he handcrafts numerous sculptures and installations from leaves, stones, snow, dirt, and icicles, composing intricate organic, archetypal forms like birds' nests, giant eggs, and snaking river-shapes. Goldworthy's art is time-based, and ephemeral--encouraging humbling reflections on mortality, as he often pushes his works to the edge of their own collapse. While some of his pieces live and die within mere seconds, works like his ominous, human-sized stone eggs could endure for several thousand years.
