Richmond Main Street Holiday Festival

When: Wed., Dec. 12, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. 2007
Price: free

Revitalization efforts in downtown Richmond have picked up over the passed year with the launching of art exhibit Aspire! -- which featured work by African-American teens from Oakland, Richmond, and San Francisco -- and the rising popularity of a summer music series called Music on the Main. On Wednesday, Dec. 12, the community nonprofit Richmond Main Street will celebrate the holidays with performances by Son de la Tierra, the Contra Costa Chorale, a visit from Santa Claus, and seasonal goodies for kids from the Iron Triangle. Mayor Gayle McLaughlinwill also deliver a special address. The Richmond Main Street Holiday Festival runs from 10 a.m.-noon for preschoolers and kindergartners, and from 5-7 p.m. for community members, atthe corner of Marina Way and MacDonald Ave. Free.
