Richardine Howard, the first Woman Fire Captain in the Oakland Fire Department, will speak to the Oakland Rotary Club at their weekly lunch program on November 30 from 12 pm – 1:30 pm at the California Ballroom, 1736 Franklin Street, in downtown Oakland. Howard, an Oakland native, will share her journey of rising through the ranks of the Oakland Fire Department. At the age of 31, she left a career as a bank teller for a job that required working all day and all night. Against all odds, overcoming adversity, both personally and professionally, she became Captain.
