Tandoori Chicken USA's chicken wings aren't just red. They're candy-apple red. Lipstick red. Bitchin' Camaro red. The cooks slather wing bits in a chunky yogurt, onion, and spice rub that has been treated with enough FD&C Red Dye to turn your tongue orange for hours afterward. Granted, it sounds gross. But the cooks thread the meat onto skewers and drop them into a tandoor oven, where they quickly blister and develop little brown crunchy bits without turning the meat into jerky. The red rub packs so much flavor -- and heat -- that you'll gladly stain all ten fingers and your pants, too, just to have more of it. Tandoori Chicken USA, a converted Dairy Queen or Fosters Freeze, serves crazy-good Punjabi food at prices to rival Mickey D's. Six wings cost $3.61, a half murgh (roast chicken) $7.73. A pint of palak paneer to go with it will set you back $3.38, and french fries another $1.11.
