There are few more patriotic ways to celebrate the Fourth of July than the opening of the San Francisco Mime Troupe's annual summer show in DoloresPark. For this year's musical agitprop comedy, Mime Troupe head writer Michael Gene Sullivan and songwriter Pat Moran give us the appropriately election-themed Red State, in which one tiny, run-down Kansas town has to (or perhaps gets to) decide an otherwise deadlocked presidential election. Company regulars Velina Brown and Lisa Hori-Garcia are joined in the cast by Noah James Butler, Lizzie Calogero, Bob Ernst, and Adrian Mejia. The show tours for free in local parks all summer. July 4 through September 28 in Bay Area parks (check schedule for dates and locations) or 415-285-1717.
