Horror
Sequel to Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza’s well produced handheld-camera horror derby picks up where [REC] left off – in a fetid, pitch-black Barcelona apartment building loaded with rabid, fast-moving, screeching, bloody, demonically possessed vampire/zombies, being hunted by an intrepid priest (Jonathan Mellor), a TV news reporter (Manuela Velasco), and a police SWAT team. What fun they all have. Equal parts Alien, the Exorcist franchise, and the Blair Witch films, with a shpritz of Saw for good measure. Special kudos to Oriol Tarragó’s sound design (85 min.).
