UT Austin currently poses many of the challenges for postdocs that UC Berkeley once had. If one is on a Fellowship, there is no mechanism for due process (grievance / appeal). This is a Civil Rights violation with the State. There is also no independent postdoctoral office in place with any real power to advocate for change for all postdocs. There are only student postdoctoral associations in specific departments. If UT Austin chooses to retain its inclusion in the original 8 public ivy league ranking, it would behoove the University to emulate UC Berkeley.
