Re: “Badge of Dishonor: Top Oakland Police Department Officials Looked Away as East Bay Cops Sexually Exploited and Trafficked a Teenager

articles about statutory rape are always so hard for me to read. Express, publish the cops texts, not the teenager's. I don't care if it's public information. She's a teen, an easy way to not humiliate a teen victim is not to publish her private texts about her enjoying sucking dick. Once again, publish the cop's text she received, which are the real crime, but not her texts back. I don't care if she gave them to you. If she wrote them before she was 18, I'm not sure you can publish them anyway, it's like a child sexting?

Put yourself in her shoes, in your 30s you want to look back at texts you sent when you were 17 about enjoying sucking dick in a rape investigation? Block her texts out please.

In comparison, the former chief gets protection from you?!?!? WTF? So he doesn't die of shock or some bullshit excuse? Somehow this newspapers job is to protect a former chief who actually did something wrong and illegal? Likely something sexually exploitive. Likely to a child. So you protect him from embarrassment but not think of ways to protect the teen victims.

The reporting is good but this article needs an intersectional analysis seriously. Like more seriously than former chiefs supposed potential heart attack

Ed Clarke said: "you have demonstrated no inhibition about flouting accepted conventions of journalistic integrity in pursuit of propagating your own revolutionist canon."

It is interesting because this is exactly why I like reading your articles, Mr. BondGraham.

Re: “Who's Profiting from Oakland's Gun Violence?

Thomas Collins says: "The people of this country feel differently, save the women."

hahahaha. who writes things like that?

Charlie Pine, you might want to check out Darwin's other articles on the billions of dollars that are paid to police officers, even though OPD remains completely unaccountable and corrupt

Re: “Who's Profiting from Oakland's Gun Violence?

This is an interesting article, Darwin. Though I think using the word "gang" as in the first paragraph always seems to animalize/criminalize the really confused/bored/desperate youths on their crime sprees (and it is always a racial term these days, even if we are writing about white people).

Anyways. It is strange that the gun industry has turned into one of the only big businesses that the radical left is willing to defend against regulation tooth and nail. i hear many argue that "gun control" is naive and pacifist.

When I used to teach anger management groups to people on parole, a man wondered allowed if there was something addicting about the power disenfranchised men feel from wielding guns, something addicting about the fast money in a sea of poverty. Addicting like smoking. I think about this a lot. So much of what it means to be a man is tied to gun violence here in Oakland. So much of what it means to be a 'have' in a community of 'have-nots.'

these are just some disjointed thoughts this article brings up. Thanks for writing it. I now have to get back to constructing my 3d printer lol
