Good points on the splitting up of housework. Women do still carry the burden, although your husband sounds like he does a lot, not as bad as most.

I think you're missing the point of the fresh, local produce though. One big point of paying extra for the organic tasty produce is that it doesn't need a lot of preparation, fancy recipes or sauces to taste good. For the fresh tomatoes, just splash some olive oil, balsamic and basil on slices and serve with bread. Throw that fresh corn in boiling water for 2 minutes and serve with butter. I have no idea why you would try to make soup out of it.

Your kids will get used to it. They're just used to the processed foods right now, stick with it. Whatever you ate last time you were really hungry is usually what you crave next time you're hungry again. Use that to your advantage!
