A top-level mega-corporation CEO named Stanislas Graff (played by Yvan Attal) is kidnapped on a Paris street and held for fifty-million-Euro ransom, but the dynamics of the negotiations for his release transform the scenario from tightly wound thriller – which it certainly is – to a more penetrating story of personal doubt and public perception. Led by Attal’s multi-layered portrayal of playboy-turned-victim Stan Graff, the large supporting cast gives writer-director Lucas Belvaux’s screenplay a much eerier tone than would have been the case with a simple procedural cops ‘n’ robbers story. Costars include Anne Consigny and Alex Descas. (125 min.)
Director: Lucas Belvaux
Cast: Yvan Attal, Anne Consigny, André Marcon, Françoise Fabian, Alex Descas, Michel Voïta, Gerard Meylan, Christophe Kourotchkine and Maxime Lefrancois
