Re: “Oakland Police Hold Secret Ceremony Honoring Several Officers Accused of Mishandling Celeste Guap Sex-Crimes Investigation

Libby Schaaf is running for re-election on a platform of transparent responsive trustworthy government: https://libbyformayor.wordpress.com/
And the transparency over the Ghost Ship fire: http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/02/04/edit…
The 2015 State of the City address mentions transparency: http://www2.oaklandnet.com/oakca1/groups/c…
It is one thing to not admit the public, but not admitting the press to document what is going on is not transparent.

Re: “Oakland to Vote on $350 Million Public Subsidy for New $1.3 Billion Raiders Stadium This Tuesday

The City and County have not done their due diligence on Fortress Investment Group. They have a bad history with sports events, including the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and the recent taking Milwaukee and Wisconsin hostage for public subsidies for the Milwaukee Bucks new basketball arena. See the story: http://mortgageflimflam.com/

Re: “Oakland to Vote on $350 Million Public Subsidy for New $1.3 Billion Raiders Stadium This Tuesday

Let's be clear. The actual subsidy is $445 million. $350 million plus the $95 million for Mount Davis. And then we need to look at the Bay Bridge, who Libby Schaaf's mentor Jerry Brown turned into an economic train wreck. We could have had a simple viaduct for $1.3 billion that turned into $6.4 billion. http://www.wnyc.org/story/316201-brief-his… If the stadium is started and comes up short on money who will be left holding the bag? The City of Oakland will have no choice but to add money to complete the project. What was once a $445 million subsidy will become ?????

Re: “Online Poll Attacks Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, Claims False Endorsements for Peggy Moore

The bigger question here are the ethics of EMC. EMC generally does legitimate polling for groups or candidate interested in how voters perceive candidates and issues. My wife received this email poll, and it was clearly an attempt to advocate for Moore. The poll never disclosed who was behind it, but it was quite clear that it was put out to support Moore. Time for EMC to step up and provide full disclosure with their polls. Otherwise, any results they produce should be viewed with great skepticism.

Re: “Oakland Housing Rights Activists Face 8.5 Years in Prison

The reason there have been no prosecutions of banks by O'Malley's office is because her office has a policy of not prosecuting predatory lending. Because predatory lending primarily targeted minority communities in Alameda County, the subsequent foreclosures have helped to fuel gentrification and displacement of long-time Oakland residents.
