RAD League Season Opener

When: Thu., May 15, 7 p.m. 2014
Last June, three friends who missed playing dodgeball decided to start their own league, but they were unsure how many other people would be interested. One year, three seasons, and one hundred participants later, it’s safe to say there’s no shortage of enthusiasm for the Recreational Adult Dodgeball League. The league, which includes a diverse range of participants, begins its fourth season this Thursday at the Claremont Middle School (5750 College Ave., Oakland). Over the course of nine weeks, eight teams of twelve will face off against each other in fifty-minute matches, culminating in playoffs in July. For those who are looking for less of a commitment, the league also hosts open recess gym nights on Mondays as well. And if memories of painful dodgeball games from your youth are holding you back, don’t let them — the league uses small, no-sting balls. Spectators are welcome, although space is limited.
