Fans of Marvel's homicidal vigilante the Punisher probably thought things couldn't get any worse for the character after his last big-screen outing in 2004, but director Lexi Alexander apparently loves a challenge. She's not only made a worse movie with Punisher: War Zone, but a movie worse than the Dolph Lundgren direct-to-video original. This time around, our pissed-off, over-armed hero (Ray Stevenson) faces scarred madman Jigsaw (Dominic West), a villain who dresses like Michael Jackson and prances about like Cesar Romero's Joker while his cannibalistic brother makes cat noises. The campy movie's one worthy element is Stevenson, who commands the screen as he inflicts carnage with cheer-worthy verve. Unfortunately, the story and performances around his bloodshed keeps interrupting the fun (107 min.).
