No longer an all-Nunsense venue, the Willows Theatre's cabaret space is now playing Pump Boys and Dinettes, a "filling station musical" originally written by a performing group of the same name, whose members John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel, and Jim Wannwrote, directed, and starred in its Tony-nominated 1982-'83 Broadway run. The rock and country musical is set among gas station workers and waitresses at the Double Cupp Diner in a small North Carolina town. Expect songs about menus, tips, cooking, the highway, and "farmer tans." August 25 through September 28 at Campbell Theatre (636 Ward St., Martinez) or 925-798-1300.
